APC, Atiku sue for peace as Nigerians celebrate Sallah
The All Progressives Congress and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar have enjoined Nigerians especially the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for the peace, unity and prosperity of the country.
They also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and the success of his administration.
The APC and the former vice-president spoke in separate statements to mark the Eid-el-Fitr festival in Abuja, on Sunday.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said, “As a party, we note that the economic progress and development the country seeks cannot be achieved in a state of rancour, disunity and discord.
“The party thanks all Nigerians for their support of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, and urges them to remember our dear President in their prayers for God to restore his health and for the success of his administration.”
Speaking in a similar vein, Atiku who is also a chieftain of the APC, urged Nigerians to demonstrate a greater spirit of tolerance and firmer commitment to peaceful coexistence, which he described as a prerequisite for unity and love in Nigeria.
In a statement by his media office, Atiku urged Muslims to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan, which included self-discipline and sacrifice through abstinence from eating, drinking and sinful acts.
