NABTS (FUTA CHAPTER) ELECTS PIONEER SET OF EXECUTIVES: ADEYEMI EMMANUEL [DE-PRINCE] EMERGED AS PRESIDENT.

The National Association of Biomedical Technology Students is the association affiliated to the department of Biomedical Technology across Nigeria. Several departments in tertiary institutions such as the Federal University of Technology Akure, do have associations attached to them, with each chapters forming a national body for such associations.

The case isn't different for the department of biomedical technology in the Federal University of Technology Akure. The department was recently introduced to the university, the School Of Health and Health Technology (SHHT) to be precise.

The association which is newly introduced to the students of the department after an electioneering process was conducted in November, 2017 to see to the growth and affairs of the association.

The electoral committee under the chairmanship of Arakunrin Akinbolusere Michael (McBolous) ensured the smooth running of the election for executives that would pilot the association for the 2017/2018 parliamentary session.

The office of the President and the Vice President were Vyed for by two students respectively, while other offices such as the General Secretary, Public Relation Officer, Treasurer and Assistant General Secretary among others, where unopposed.

The pioneering set of elected executives of the association as published by the electoral committee after the successful completion of the election is below :

AJAYI DAMILOLA D - FINANCIAL SECRETARY.

AYODELE MARK HOPE - WELFARE DIRECTOR.

LAWALSON OLATOMIWA - SOCIAL DIRECTOR.

OLAKANMI ABRAHAM O - SPORTS DIRECTOR. 

AMAECHI MARTINS -  PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER.

Following the aftermath of the election, our correspondent in chat with the 2016/2017 Electoral Chairman of the Association, Arakunrin Akinbolusere Michael. He emphasised on the need for an association for evey department stating; "For a department to grow and to meet up with national standards, in addition with worldwide upgrade an association is necessary".

"To unite and ensure a cordial relationship amidst students of the departments across all levels, an association is also required. Hence the role of an association to a department is surely of high importance." He concluded.
