BREAKING NEWS!!! FUTA Produces Best Physiology Student in Nigeria
Saheed Lawal, a 300 Level student in the Department of Physiology of the Federal University of Technology, Akure [FUTA] has been adjudged the best Undergraduate Student of Physiology in Nigeria and subsequently won the 2018 edition of the Physiological Society of England Undergraduate Prize.He was nominated by the Department for the Undergraduate Award of the Physiological Society United Kingdom for undergraduate students in Nigeria.
With this feat Saheed Lawal has become an associate member of the Undergraduate Physiological Society, United Kingdom. He is entitled to travel grants of Five Hundred Pounds (500) annually to attend the Society Conference apart from the sum of One Hundred Pounds (100) prize that has been credited to his account and a certificate sent to the Department of Physiology, FUTA.
The President, the Physiological Society, David Eisner signed the Certificate. Lawal emerged tops from a pool of undergraduate students studying Physiology in Nigerian Universities in Nigeria with a C.G.P.A. of 4.98
Presenting the certificate to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, the Coordinator and Acting Head, Department of Physiology, Dr. Temitope Adedeji thanked the Management for its continuous support and assured that the best is yet to come from the Department.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated Saheed Lawal and encouraged him to remain focused. He said with the linkage opportunities FUTA has with reputable Universities worldwide, Lawal can tap into them for his Postgraduate after completing his undergraduate programme. “You have started well, but you can do better. You can leverage on the University linkage with reputable foreign Institutions to build a career and develop your C.V” he added. Professor Fuwape commended Dr. Adedeji and other staff of the Department of Physiology for doing a great Job and encourage them to do more.
